Broadchurch has won the TV Drama prize in the 2014 South Bank Sky Arts Awards. Melvyn Bragg hosted the ceremony today at London's Dorchester Hotel and members of the Broadchurch cast and creative team, including Olivia Colman, Andrew Buchan, Arthur Darvill, Vicky McClure and Chris Chibnall, wereon hand to collect the award. Broadchurch was up against two other celebrated crime dramas from 2013: Top Of The Lake and The Fall.

Broadchurch followed the impact on a small coastal town in the West Country of the devastating murder of a young boy. David Tennant and Olivia Colman led a powerful ensemble cast as the detectives charged with not only finding the killer but keeping the small community from falling apart under the pressures of fear, suspicion and media scrutiny. A second series goes into production later this year; meanwhile David Tennant, series creator Chris Chibnall and director James Strong will travel to Canada to produce a version for Fox TV under the title Gracepoint.
