BROADCHURCH: Jodie Whittaker Claims That David Tennant Is Set To Return For Series 2

Jodie Whittaker, Beth Latimer in the award winning ITV series Broadchurch, has claimed today that both David Tennant and Olivia Colman will be back for the second series of the show.

Jodie, who played the grieving mother of murder victim Danny, exclusively told CultBox, “I know Olivia [Colman] and David [Tennant] are back, but [the producers] haven’t told us anything. They don’t want us to know anything so that we can’t spoil it if we are back!” Jodie is still uncertain about her own participation in the sequel.

No confirmation of Jodie's statement has been forthcoming from Chris Chibnall, the ITV press office or producers Kudos TV. The new series of Broadchurch is currently in the process of being written by Chris Chibnall ahead of shooting in late May. Olivia Colman has already said several times that she will be involved; however David Tennant, who is currently in Canada until late May shooting Gracepoint, the US remake of Broadchurch, has maintained his claim that he has not yet been asked.

Very little has been revealed about the second series, including confirmed cast. All that is known is that it will be very different to the original story, as Chris Chibnall has previously revealed: "The one thing I can promise is we're not going to start with another dead body on the beach at the start of series two. We're going to go somewhere different, we're going to go on a different journey, I hope it's going to be surprising and interesting. That's the aim."

Jodie Whittaker can currently be seen on screen in the Sky1 drama The Smoke.
