David Tennant At Wimbledon Today

David Tennant was one of many celebrities attending Centre Court at Wimbledon today to watch the Men's Singles match between Rafael Nadal and Mikhail Kukushkin.

The middle Saturday of Wimbledon fortnight is traditionally attended by stars of sport as well as familiar faces from stage, screen and music. The Royal Box today was packed with sporting heroes, including Sir Bobby Charlton, David Beckham, Tom Daley, Bradley Wiggins and Paralympians Kelly Gallagher and Charlotte Evans, who sat alongside members of the military who attended in honour of Armed Forces Day. Other attendees included Sir Patrick Stewart and Countdown's Rachel Riley.

Despite losing the first set, Nadal recovered to win a place in the final sixteen.

David Tennant briefly appeared on the BBC One coverage of the match where he was described as "...a very fine actor." Seated in the stands rather than the Royal Box, David looked elegant in a grey suit and purple tie and sporting a beard for his role as Broadchurch detective Alec Hardy, the second series of which is currently shooting in the West Country. He was accompanied by wife Georgia Moffett.
