DAVID TENNANT REVIEW OF 2015: May - David & Billie Wow Fans At Philly



Today’s review of David Tennant news and events in 2015 looks at May. This month David Tennant and Billie Piper made their first ever joint appearance in the USA. Filming on Marvel's Jessica Jones continued and David was cast in a new film. 

TV

A new synopsis for Marvel’s Jessica Jones revealed a little more about what to expect from the series. David revealed as much as he dared at Comic Con, which was only to say how fantastic the series was.


Disney was set to win over a new generation of David Tennant fans in the USA as they announced plans to launch his series of Doctor Who on Disney XD. Doctor Who was also showing for the first time in India as FX won the rights to show the revived series.

The second season of Broadchurch launched in the Netherlands while season 2 of W1A was shown in Canada.

Appearances



David Tennant and Billie Piper appeared together at Wizard World Comic Con Philadelphia and took part in a joint panel that was packed with their reminiscences about their time on Doctor Who. David and Billie also enjoyed some friendly Doctor Who rivalry with some colleagues from the show as they sent messages to Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston who were then on a tour of conventions in Australia.
After the convention closed David’s fans were happy to share their photos taken with him and Billie.

Theatre


Booking opened for Richard II at the Barbican in London in 2016, with tickets for David’s standalone shows being snapped up almost immediately.

Film

A new film project was announced for David: he would be playing the revolutionary psychiatrist R.D.Laing in Metanoia opposite Elisabeth Moss. The film is scheduled to begin shooting in early 2016 in London and Germany.


What We Did On Our Holiday was released in cinemas in Korea under the title Happy Holiday, and also in Spain. A trailer was uploaded for the American theatrical release.

Charity



Headway Essex, of which David is patron, launched their annual Hats4Headway appeal, which seemed a good opportunity to look back at some of David’s finest hats
